Proposed Solution

We researched four different existing detection methods to determine which would be best to track plastic pollution: Aerial Photography, Satellite Imaging, Observer-Based Spotting, and Drone Detection. Out of these four, we propose the use of a combination of Satellite Imagery and Drone Detection to locate plastic pollution in our oceans. The combination of these two systems was determined to be the most efficient, cost effective, and eco-friendly option.

Proposed Solution: Intro

To remove waste we have tracked from our waterways we suggest putting water based waste collection drones to work. Their goal is to utilize the drone data and swim out to where the waste can be found then return to shore for collection and disposal of the trash. This along with an education campaign to inform citizens of how to properly dispose of their waste and landfill reform to ensure their security, are what we propose will manage our waste more effectively.

Proposed Solution: Body

Our project aims to aid in the overall improvement of water quality. Our research suggests that the implementation of drones and satellites will be effective to help track and ultimately clean the water of trash pollution. By removing these polluters, the water will be cleaner, creating a safe marine ecosystem that benefits both animals and humans.
